Providence Center: Feature | ||||||||
|
Building a New Providence Center: A Progress Report In 2003, we developed a long-range plan to improve the Center’s delivery of programs and services. Our goals are to offer a wider range of programs and services, provide greater access to all our programs, lower utility and transportation costs, and deliver services more effectively and efficiently. The most visible change has been our new building at the Cloverleaf Business Park in Millersville, Maryland. After months of outfitting a large, conveniently located space, we opened doors in September 2006 to a well-designed, state-of-the-art center. The adults who come to Cloverleaf have access to advanced technology, specialized rooms, sensory equipment, exercise areas and many other features, as well as the chance to enjoy a wider range of programs. We will ultimately create two campuses of services, one serving north-county residents (Cloverleaf in Millersville) and the other serving those to the south. The Bradbury building in Arnold, which will serve as the hub of services for those south-county residents, will undergo a renovation to become a state-of-the-art building like its sister facility in Millersville. Behind the scenes, the Center is upgrading key support systems. Network engineering and an organizational database will link the entire center. New routing software and a Global Positioning Systems on our transportation fleet will lessen the travel time adults spend coming to and from the center. The project is a major undertaking that will take some time to complete and will require ongoing renovations and department relocations. Please bear with us – the end result will be a new Providence Center that’s better positioned to help developmentally disabled adults lead more rewarding lives. |
